Welcome to Madrid
Located in the popular neighbourhood of Malasaña, this shop founded by Martín Garbayo in 1863, was devoted to construction products, such as ropes, thatch and, of course, espadrilles in black and white. It has now become a cult place for fans of espadrilles, which it both sells and makes.
It was at the end of the 1960s when Martín Garbayo and his wife, Josefina, introduced a wide variety of colours and models of espadrilles in the business, with so much success that Queen Sofia, artists like Lucía Bose and sports personalities, such as Martín Vázquez are on its client list.
The espadrilles are made in a traditional way by hand, so that each pair is an exclusive and unique pair.
