Welcome to Madrid
Founded in 1886 by Leopoldo Yustas Ayuso and located in Plaza Mayor, in the Habsburg Madrid shopping area, this store specialises in the sale of hats, caps and military items.
It has had its own hat workshop since the 1920s. Due to its success, it set up another factory in Fuencarral, which closed after the Civil War.
In 1981, the Plaza Mayor and all of its buildings were declared Artistic-Historic Monuments, whereby both the exterior and interior of the building is protected, which enables the original interior of the shop to be seen, maintaining its original Spanish chestnut wood furniture and floors.
On the three exhibition floors, you can find classical, period, regional and more modern hats, as well as customised caps and military items. Since 1996, it has also incorporated a series of firms from the gift sector, such as Majorica, Tous and Lladró. Its customers include the Royal Household, and its work has been seen in television series, such as Amar en tiempos revueltos or Cuéntame.
