San Ginés Bookshop

    Information

One of the oldest bookshops in Spain, where you can find authentic literary gems, is located between Calle Arenal and Calle Mayor, in the picturesque Pasadizo de San Ginés, alongside the parish of the same name and the most famous chocolate shop in Madrid.  Its origins date back to the 17th century, as its first bookseller on record was Diego Logroño in 1650.

It specialises in antique and second-hand books, ranging from narratives to technical manuals on medicine, art or philosophy. On the tables at street level, unique and special copies are mixed with guides to the city or political references, which, combined with great opportunities at economic prices, turns this sanctuary of the arts into a paradise for collectors and curious visitors.
