Welcome to Madrid

Located in the middle of the Gran Vía, this is one of Madrid’s traditional theatres, which went from being a cinema hall to a theatre hall.  All kinds of theatre plays, musicals and intimate concerts have been performed here.

The Theatre EDP opened its doors in 1944 as the Gran Vía Cinema and took its first steps as a theatre space between 1947 and 1950. The Gran Vía Cinema regained its activity in 1994 after a refurbishment, and in 2004, it received the corresponding authorisation from Madrid City Council to become a space for the performing arts.

Since then, it has accumulated thousands of productions, including films, musicals and theatre plays, which have made it into one of the key artistic history on the Gran Vía.

It has 950 seats and the best theatre plays, musicals, music concerts of diverse genres, dance, ballet and flamenco shows and comedy shows can all be staged here from an international and cosmopolitan prism.
