Welcome to Madrid

Founded in 1955 by the Spanish financier Juan March Ordinas, the Juan March Foundation is a family, heritage and operative institution that develops its activities in the field of humanistic and scientific culture. The headquarters are the work of the architect José Luis Picardo, inaugurated in 1975.

With a constructed area of 18,000 square metres and 1,700 square metres of gardens, this modern cultural centre organises art exhibitions, concerts, conference cycles and seminars.  It also houses two libraries: the main one, which is set up as a research support centre, has an extensive documentary collection of titles devoted to art and humanities; and the courtyard library, a small space that is open to the public, which seeks to be a magnet for old and new readers, where they can discover or rediscover the universal classics or come across new authors, in a space without barriers where the reader is trusted.

The Foundation also has a cafeteria and a shop-bookstore.
