Welcome to Madrid

In 1914, building started on the Parque Norte del Servicio de Limpiezas (Cleaning Services North Station) as part of the reorganisation of the Department of Hygiene. The architect Leopoldo José Ulled Espadero designed the project for the current Neo-Mudéjar building, which is located in the Chamberí district and is an example of the lengthy survival of this style in public buildings.

Built wholly from burnt brick, it is richly decorated with pilasters and arches created exclusively with their diverse fittings, and topped off by the large coat of arms over the carriage gate.
