Welcome to Madrid

The Museum of Astronomy and Geodesy at Madrid’s Universidad Complutense, located in a room at the Faculty of Mathematics, houses a major collection of instruments pertaining to Astronomy, Geodesy and Topography, compiled for the educational purpose of providing an insight into the development of the methods used in these disciplines over the past 150 years.

It consists of a number of planetary and celestial spheres, aimed at demonstrating the geocentric and heliocentric theory of the solar system, and the position of the stars in the sky. You can also discover an important collection of astronomical refracting lenses or glasses, telescopes, eyeglasses, Talcott telescopes, prism astrolabes and an excellent astronomical regulator or pendulum.
