Welcome to Madrid
The Wax Museum in Madrid is the perfect place to spend an enjoyable afternoon, especially if you go with children. More than just an exhibition of figures, it recreates atmospheres, combines spaces and sounds, and offers a unique way of getting to know history, through the more than 450 people represented there. It introduces the visitor to people of all periods and occupations from different disciplines and fields of knowledge. Among them we find famous athletes, politicians, and celebrities from the past and present. Included are historical figures like Cleopatra, Napoleon, and the Kings of the Hapsburg and Bourbon dynasties, among others.
The museum takes special interest in showing the world of children, and features The Simpsons, Harry Potter, Mortadelo and Filemón, Snow White, and Frodo from “The Lord of the Rings”. One of the most successful galleries for both adults and children is the crime gallery with the terror room, where the most famous and bloodthirsty characters, such as Count Dracula, the Mummy, Freddy Krueger, and others can be seen.
The museum also has three special attractions: the Simulator, consisting of frozen tunnels, the centre of the Earth, and Space, all experienced at breakneck speed; the Terror Train, carrying us from Jurassic Park to the Galactic Tavern, and taking in famous murders and other surprises; and finally, Multivision, which offers a wonderful view of Spanish history using 27 slide projectors with hexaphonic sound.
