The Excelentia Foundation presents a special recital devoted to traditional Spanish music and zarzuela on 1 May at the Teatro Real This concert is conducted by Kynan Jones, with the participation of the Santa Cecilia Classic Orchestra and the guitarist  Alejandro Hurtado.

Some of the most important pieces in the history of national music will be performed , such as Nights in the Gardens of Spain, the musical piece composed by the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla or Aranjuez Concierto by Joaquín Rodrigo.

The classic and flamenco guitarist Alejandro Hurtado will be on stage in this concert accompanying the Santa Cecilia Classic Orchestra. The musician has won first prize in the 12th and 16th San Vicente del Raspeig Young Performers Competition 2013 and the Bordón Mining Prize at the Cante de las Minas International Festival 2017. The orchestra is a private ensemble created by the Excelentia Foundation in 2002. It is one of the best orchestras in Europe, giving more than 30 concerts each season. It has 150 members and has been conducted by maestros, such as Alexander Polyanichko, Michail Jurowski, Henrik Schaefer, Andrés Cárdenes, Alan Burivayev or Donato Cabrera.

Kynan Johns is a prestigious conductor who has conducted around 60 orchestras and opera companies worldwide, including the Israel Philharmonic, the Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. He has also been the principal conductor of the Israel Chamber Orchestra (Ashdod) and the Resident-Assistant conductor of the Australian Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Opera of Australia.
