Peter Mark Sinclair Almond, better known by his stage name Marc Almond, rose to fame as the vocalist for the techno-pop new wave duo Soft Cell, which he founded together with keyboardist David Ball. A very popular group during the early 1980s that became one of the first exponents of synthpop in the UK.
Their biggest hit was Tainted Love, which they released in 1981, a cover of the song by Gloria Jones. The duo performed together until 1984, when they split up. In 2001, they announced they would be getting back together to record a new album and tour the UK, although they split again in 2003.
Marc Almond carved a solo career out of the successful musical duo and currently has an extensive back catalogue of records. His most recent album Chaos and a Dancing Star was released in 2020, and he will be performing tracks from this record in Madrid on his latest tour.
