Art & Wine. Madrid Tour
Information
Until December 2023, a unique experience can be enjoyed, which has been created jointly by the Thyssen-Bornemisza National Museum and San Miguel Market. Two of the city's most visited tourist attractions, these two landmarks have joined forces for this initiative, which features two routes that invite us to enjoy food culture and art.
Under the name of Art & Wine. Madrid Tour offers the public two possible routes that kick off by visiting the Thyssen Bornemisza National Museum and end up with a wine tasting at San Miguel Market, as wine will be the driving thread of these routes.
The first experience consists of a tour through the museum with an audio-guide, which shows a selection of The Culture of Wine works of art, focusing on the evolution of wine in artistic representations throughout history. Later, on visiting San Miguel Market within a period of 7 calendar days after visiting the museum, El 19 de San Miguel stall will offer an audio-guide with a tasting of 3 wines related to the route previously visited. Using a QR code, visitors will have the opportunity to find out more about the wines they have tasted, their history, tasting notes, as well as a recommendation on their pairing.
On the other hand, the second experience is personalised. This route also kicks off at the museum, but offers the unique opportunity to visit behind closed doors, from 9am to 10am, before it opens its doors to the general public, with an expert guide providing a full visit to the collection. Then, it’s time for a stroll to San Miguel Market to kick off the gastronomic part, in which a sommelier welcomes the group with a tasting of 5 wines from 5 different Spanish Designations of Origin. The tasting will take place in a space that has been cordoned off in the central part of the market and, in this case, it will be a tasting paired with dishes from several stalls. This gastronomic experience revolving around food and Spanish wine will have Juanma Galán, maître and sommelier at Estimar Madrid, or María José Huertas, sommelier at La Terraza del Casino, Paco Roncero’s 2-star Michelin restaurant in Madrid, as guides.
The two experiences can be acquired through the museum. The first experience costs €45 per person, whereby the second experience costs €1,100.50 for the full experience for two people, up to a maximum of six people.
