Welcome to Madrid

The hit musical based on the film, Pretty Woman, one of the most loved romantic comedies of all time, is coming to Madrid’s Gran Vía. It can be seen at the Teatro EDP Gran Vía from 26 September to 29 October, with performances from Tuesday to Sunday, following the narrative of the hit film and enriched with a passionate soundtrack.

Since its première at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago in 2018, moving on to Broadway, Italy and Barcelona, this musical production is coming to Madrid with music and lyrics by Bryan Adams and the composer, musician and producer, Jim Vallance, and the libretto by Garry Marshall (director of the film) and JF Lawton (film, TV and theatre scriptwriter).

For the musical adaptation of the film, the authors, JF Lawton and Garry Marshall have come up with a funny, moving and updated script to reflect today’s sensitivities.  However, it remains loyal to the 1990 American comedy featuring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, creating great songs for each of the key characters, without forgetting the hit song, Oh, Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison.

The story presents Vivian Ward, a prostitute with an extraordinary character, who meets Edward Lewis, a successful businessman, who asks her for directions in Beverly Hills.  Vivian offers him her help and services for that night.  Edward, on the other hand, proposes a special plan, namely to spend a whole week with him. During this week, they will both change their outlook on life.
