Welcome to Madrid

The director, Luis Luque (Todas las noches de un día, Marat Sade or Las Criadas) and the Israeli choreographer, Sharon Fridman, create a modern dance show that reflects on the encounter and reunion of different civilizations and cultures.  It is a show that can be enjoyed from 24 May to 11 June with performances from Tuesday to Sunday, at the Max Aub Hall, Nave 10, at Naves del Español at Matadero.

With the playwright, Sergio Martínez Vila (Lecciones de vuelo, Juegos para toda la familia or Tribu), the performance is inspired by the legend of the birth of Europe to talk about essential issues of modern society and highlight everything that unites and separates human beings. To do so, a show has been created in which theatre, visual arts and the ancient traditional dances of Europe and the people of Israel come together to generate plasticity full of symbolism and beauty.

Born in Hader (Israel) in 1980 and resident in Spain for years, Sharon Fridman studied Israeli folklore and contemporary dance. Her productions are characterised by the natural movement of her performers and the constant contact between them. Her career as a dancer began in 1999 and throughout her career, she has worked with companies like the Ido Tadmor Dance Company, the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, the Phrasal Group or Vértigo.

This director and Israeli choreographer have won awards such as the Alicia Alonso CIC’2012 Prize (Autor Foundation - National Ballet of Cuba), the prize for the best contemporary dance proposal at the Huesca International Dance and Theatre Festival 2011, first prize and the audience prize at the Burgos-New York choreographic competition 2011, five prizes at the Madrid Choreographic Competition 2007 and the Max Award 2015 for the Best Dance Show for Free Fall.
