Miró’s Star
Information
The CaixaForum Madrid cultural space is exhibiting this tapestry created by the painter, sculptor, engraver and ceramist from Catalonia, Joan Miró, along with the textile artist, Josep Royo, in 1980, which can be seen from 13 January to 21 May free of charge. This work gave rise to the Mironian star that is the entity’s emblem.
The work in question is one of seven monumental tapestries that were jointly created by the two artists, having been commissioned to do so by Caixa de Pensions per a la Vellesa i d'Estalvis de Catalunya i Balears, whose purpose was to create the entity’s corporate image and to transmit its cultural and social values. The piece was restored live in April 2022 at the CaixaForum Barcelona, whereby it is installed in a glass display cabinet in its lobby. From now on, it will be on display in the different CaixaForum centres.
