Posada de la Villa

    Information

This centenary establishment that started out as Madrid’s only flour mill is located in the heart of the La Latina District.  In 1642, it became the first Inn of the Court, where food and shelter was given to all travellers arriving in Madrid.  When boarding houses started to fall into decline, this inn was also affected and threatened with ruin.  It was rescued and restored by Félix Colomo in 1980, who transformed it into today’s restaurant, a roasterie specialised in traditional Madrid cuisine.

La Posada is divided into three floors, with capacity for 235 diners. It has several private rooms for group meals.  The elegant and simple decor features wood and the stained glass windows with the restaurant’s coat of arms.

Its menu consists of dishes from Castilian and Madrid’s cuisine, whereby its specialities are Madrid stew prepared on a low heat and lamb roasted in a wood-fired oven.

La Posada has received numerous awards and recognitions. It is included in the Michelin Guide and has won the International Gastronomy Gran Collar, the National Award for Traditional Gastronomy or the Chaine des Rotisseurs, in addition to having received recognition from Madrid City Council and Comercio Centenario for its business excellence to citizens.
