Welcome to Madrid
For decades it has been the oldest German restaurant in Madrid. Its seniority is just a sign of the quality of its cuisine, which has captivated a faithful clientele since 1940. No doubt, customers have been attracted throughout the years by their stellar recipe: the pork knuckle, boiled and accompanied by sauerkraut sour and fermented cabbage- and mashed potatoes.
Greens and vegetables are transformed into exquisite dishes, such as the German salad, the snout salad with wild boar cold cuts, onion and vinegar-, the herring salad, in a creamy sauce made with cream, mayonnaise, pepper and beet juice, or the potato salad, with bacon and bittersweet vinegar. Their succulent pork knuckle will guarantee a second visit in order to savor the typical Frankfurt sausages, the Bockwurst, the white type, made with very spiced veal meat and grilled, as well as the Goulash with spaetzle, a veal stew similar to ragout with a paprika sauce, or the tartar of raw minced meat with egg, capers and onion.
Although meats go well with wine, in this establishment German beer is a must, and they offer dark beer and Lowenbrau. Furthermore, one cannot leave without trying of their delicious desserts, such as the Apfelstrudel or the cranberry cheesecake.
