The famous Finnish power metal and symphonic metal singer, Tarja Turunen, presents her latest album: In The Raw. It is an album that maintains her well known rhythms that mix classic instruments with great guitar riffs.  

Born in Kitee (Finland) in 1977, Tarja is a soloist with soprano training, as she was introduced to music through opera song at the age of six. She later registered at the Sibelius Academy of the Arts in Helsinki, where she perfected her chamber music skills.

In 1996, she founded  the group, Nightwish, along with the keyboard player, Tuomas Holopainen, and the guitarist, Emppu Vuorinen. She released five albums with this group and went on several world tours.  She obtained fame until she was expelled from the group in 2005 due to discrepancies with the other members of the band.  

She then embarked upon her solo career, which culminated in 2007 with the album, My Winter Storm. In The Raw is now her sixth solo album,  in addition to three classic albums and a Christmas album.  

Tarja has been nominated for two Emma Awards (the Grammy Awards in Finland) in 2006 and 2007,​ and was pre-nominated for the Grammy Awards 2009 for her collaboration with the artist, Schiller. She has also performed with other groups, such as Angra, Mike Oldfield, Scorpions and Paradise.
