Welcome to Madrid
The American musician Eddie Vedder arrives to Madrid for a concert featuring his solo project. Pearl Jam’s singer and guitarist, one of the greatest and most famous grunge bands in the world, embarks on a summer European tour accompanied by the Irish musician Glen Hansard.
Eddie Vedder, the frontman of Pearl Jam since 1990 is known for his powerful baritone vocals. Readers of the Rolling Stone magazine placed him among the 10 greatest vocalists of all time. He has also worked with numerous other artists and bands: The Who, Ramones, Neil Young, R.E.M. and Tom Petty, to mention just a few.
In 2007, Vedder released his first solo album as a soundtrack for the film Into the Wild (2007) that got him a Golden Globe Award for his song Guaranteed. That album was also nominated for a Grammy Award as a Best Folklore Album. His second album Ukulele Songs (2011), features a collaboration with Glen Hansard.
He is the musician who will open for Vedder in his European tour. It will not be the first time they perform together as they are great friends and have already toured together presenting Vedder’s second solo album.
Hansard is a very versatile artist. Apart from being a solo singer, guitarist and songwriter, playing in bands like The Frames and The Swell Season, he has also worked as an actor and TV show host. He is an Academy Award winner for the Best Original Song for Falling Slowly, for the motion picture Once (2007).
