Hotel Fénix, a Gran Meliá Hotel
Information
Located right in the Plaza de Colon, in the financial heart of the city and at the convergence of Calle Goya, Paseo de la Castellana and Calle Serrano, Hotel Fenix is one of Madrid’s most luxurious hotels. Its location makes it an ideal choice for business visitors and tourists alike.
It was built in the late 1950s by architect Fernando Cánovas del Castillo, and for more than 60 years it has been a favourite place to stay for the rich and famous. Among them, Gregory Peck, who attended the opening, Gloria Swanson, Rita Hayworth, Cary Grant, and Charles Bronson were captivated by the classic decor and aristocratic splendour of the hotel. But the most remembered visit is that of the Beatles, who chose the Hotel Fenix to stay in 1965, when they came to give their only concert in Madrid.
The neoclassical building has a unique and contemporary interior. Its 215 rooms, decorated in the most exquisite English taste, are divided into Deluxe, Premium, Supreme and Premium Redlevel categories. All fully equipped with the latest technology. In addition, it offers a variety of additional services, such as the Thai Room Wellness space that invites you to immerse yourself in a unique atmosphere of Eastern well-being.
On the ground floor of the hotel, with an entrance leading out directly onto the street, the Hortensio restaurant is run by chef Mario Valles, serving traditional dishes made using traditional techniques, alongside innovative offerings, always working with seasonal produce. In addition, Dry Martini by Javier de las Muelas is one of the world's leading cocktail bars, and the Aduana restaurant, located on the seventh floor of the hotel, offers exclusive views over the Plaza de Colon.
